Have you ever wanted to quit something good? Our guest today at The Messy Table has been there.

Renee Swope was ready to resign from motherhood—after desperately longing to become a mom. Overwhelmed by the job, deflated by insecurity, and enamored with guilt, the thought of giving up (at least for a few days) sounded like a vacation.

Renee and her husband, J.J., have raised two sons to adulthood and are still in the throes of parenting their 13-year-old daughter, who they adopted from Ethiopia. From disobedient toddlers to teenagers questioning God, she knows firsthand that raising humans isn’t easy … but it’s such a worthy calling.

“Maybe you don’t feel successful, but you’re being faithful.”  —Renee Swope

Somewhere along the journey, Renee has learned the secrets of becoming A Confident Mom—which happens to be the title of her new book. “Not confident in my ability,” she explains, “but confident in God’s ability.”

If you’re interested in gleaning some hard-earned wisdom from a mama who’s gone before you (and is still walking beside you), grab your coffee and join us at The Messy Table!
